Dr. BENJAMIN LA BROT, MD
Medical Advisor, International
Dr. Benjamin La Brot is the Founder and CEO of Floating Doctors, an all-volunteer, non-profit medical relief team dedicated to reducing the present and future burden of disease in the developing world. As a native of Southern California, he’s had a long association with the ocean having spent countless hours on commercial fishing boats and research vessels.
With Floating Doctors, Dr. La Brot has combined his love of the sea and medicine to advance healthcare in remote, rural communities.
He led the first Floating Doctors mission to Haiti in 2010 and has been continuing ever since. The organization provides supplies and assistance to existing relief groups and delivers health services to remote areas that have virtually no access to healthcare.
Dr. La Brot attended the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland and worked as a physician within the Irish Health Care System. He assisted in the launch and then operated a long-term care facility for the elderly that also provided acute hospital services.
Dr. La Brot as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medical Education at the Keck School of Medicine of USC.
